Artist's Comments
No matter how brightly and gaily you decorate the tables, no matter how many balloons you fly, or kid-painted posters you hang up, it's still no fun to have your Easter breakfast outdoors on skid row.
Yes. This isn't a political forum, this is someplace to come and get critiques for your photography, not a place to comment on the attrocities of humanity. Now back off and find someone else to pick a fight with.

This reminds me of that Phil Collins song. "Another Day In Paradise." In this case you've captured an image of someone actually being helped, in some small way, rather than being completely ignored. But it still exudes the same air of a person who seems invisible, almost a ghost walking through life that nobody pays attention to, even when he's right there. Or like a pile of ashes that could just be blown away in an instant, and nobody would notice.
I know the homeless man thing is overdone, and I know the selective desaturation thing is overdone. But I saw that for once it fit perfectly and like you I think it was a good use of the technique. Thanks for stopping that thread before I got involved.
Besides, what you know (and that guy doesn't) is that I regularly give up my holidays to volunteer down at the Mission, and I am now their official press photographer. Personally, I know the homeless problem sucks. What I appreciate is the comments on my photography.

`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More

But life is not a succession of urgent "nows." It's a listless trickle of "why should I's."
