An unknown surfer rides the waves of Newport Beach at sunset, Memorial Day weekend.
Sometimes, you get a lucky shot that is so good, that even as a nude-only photographer you feel the need to add it to your portfolio. This is that shot for me. (Print available!)
It's very rare that you see surfer pics from the side; quite often they are from the front only. But I was out on the jetty some 30 feet into the water, taking shots of the waves crashing up on the rocks (I'm a sucker for sea-spray shots) and I turned to see the surfers shoot by on either side of me, so I snapped a few pics. The sun effect is from a 6pt cross filter I was using, hoping to make the sea spray sparkle. This shot really was a lucky accident. Virtually NO retuoching has been done. Not levels, or contrast or cropping. This is EXACTLY what my camera recorded in jpeg mode. I'm VERY happy with it.
