Description
On the left is women's lightweight boxer Donna Biggers, and on the right is my cousin Layla 'Amazing' McCarter, about a minute after she bloodied Donna's nose and about 10 seconds before she knocked her out.
It was supposed to be a history making boxing match... the first time women were allowed to go not only 3 minute rounds, but a full 12 rounds, just like men. But Layla had other ideas, and knocked out Donna 2 minutes into the second round. It was fast and brutal.
I had full ringside and locker room press access, which was kind of cool except for the part where I kept getting sprayed with mansweat and blood during the exhibition matches.
Layla McCarter is now the GBU World Lightweight Women's Champion AND the WBA Lightweight Women's World Champion. Wow.
